Appearance: Anamika sports long brown hair reaching down to her waist and matching amber eyes set on a tanned face schooled forcibly into a resting polite expression over the years. Standing at five foot two, the young doppelganger cuts an unimpressive image in her perfectly maintained uniform and accessories, even the fringe let loose over her forehead in accordance with the school dress code. Any strands of hair past collar length pinned back accordingly. Beneath her formal school robes, Anamika wears a starched white blouse and a grey skirt reaching to just below her knees. Sturdy knee high black boots over similarly knee high stockings complete the look.

Personality:

Anamika has learned the value of networking over her years at school, forcing herself to become the girl who is friendly with everyone. She always has a kind ear for other’s problems, a helping hand ready to assist and a sharp mind that sooks in information at a rapid rate. Above all, Anamika has learned how to project a desirable persona to all, which leaves her very little room to be herself. Working hard to become what everyone wants, the teenager no longer knows who she is.

History:

Born to highly acclaimed Sri Lankan healers Sona and Sameer Darling, it was no surprise when little Anamika began showing a talent for the healing arts as early as two years old. Her parents couldn’t have been prouder and set her down the path of refining her healing ability from an early age. Where others entered the Magic Academy still trying to figure out who they were, Anamika already knew and was very proud of it too.

But then everything came undone. In one of her first classes, her healing spells – spells she had mastered at age seven and eight – refused to work. As much as she tried, the magic simply would not bend to her will. Embarrassed and furous, the girl sunk back in her seat, vowing not to show off in class again. The incident appeared to be isolated as her magic began to work fine after the class as she demonstrated the same spell in the school cafeteria amid hundreds of other students and the brunette didn’t think about it again, until three days later when something similar happened.

This time, her lack of magic sent the young Asian in a panic, writing to her parents and rushing to the infirmary to get herself checked. When nothing appeared to be wrong, Anamika simply had to accept that sometimes her magic just didn’t work. She would have made peace with herself if it was simply that but a few weeks later, Anamika was experiencing different forms of magic the more she was around different people. For example she felt like time went by faster while in class with Joey Anderson, she felt the cold breath of the deceased on the back of her neck when she made eye contact with Felix Adler sitting over on the next table and she felt whatever it is Dentity will do whenever he gets around to apping his character.

It took her more months than she would admit to understand what was happening, and when she did she was devastated. She wasn’t a healer like her parents; she was simply a doppelganger living off of their magic, her success nothing but borrowed talent from them as she grew up. It took the remaining school year for her to study up on her “condition” and completely crush her confidence as she realized how desperately dependent her powers were on other people. Anamika had absolutely no magic on her own but rather acted as a catalyst for everyone else’s magic, borrowing what excess they naturally shed off to use as an imitation of theirs. This led to her starting her second school year with only one goal in mind; to try and make as many friends as possible so she would never have to be alone.

She succeeded for the most part. As the girl who got excellent grades, was genial to everyone and generally pleasant to be around, Anamika amassed a social circle big enough to never be left alone in a pinch, a number that was nearly doubled in her penultimate year in school when she started dating the Captain of whatever school team is most op at Magic Academy. Her years of hard work and careful planning was aimed at the end of year talent show just before her graduation. Scouts and scholars from all universities and institutes would be present to observe any outstanding students and offer them jobs/apprenticeships/opportunities and scholarships to further their education and Anamika had the best show in mind. She was going to step up on stage and finally, finally reveal her doppelganger abilities to the world by performing magic from very class present. The auditorium was full to the brim with so much excess magic from everyone, Anamika was confident for the first time ever that she could do anything, any spell, any feat of magic or physicality. It was finally her moment in the sun.

And then the summoning act she was supposed to go after went horribly, horribly wrong.
